Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 321 -- VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION

SPONSOR:  Days (May)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Elections by a vote of 12 to 0.

This bill requires persons discharged from prison or parole,
after serving their sentence, to be informed in writing of the
process and procedure to register to vote.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will simply ensure that
more persons know how to register to vote.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Days; Hyter Alexander;
Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; and Office of
the Secretary of State.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
